- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¾ cup raw cashew, soaked in water for two hours
- 1 red pepper, roasted
- 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground mustard
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 8 oz dry pasta, cooked

Prepare the pasta
In a large pot of salted water, cook the pasta in accordance with the directions on the package. Note that larger macaroni might take longer time to cook.
Make the sauce
